Snackin'
Polar Bear, San Diego Zoo ~ photo courtesy of my mom, Judy
Well, it's officially the holiday season,
so I thought a picture of a polar bear would be a nice way to kick it
off. Actually, 2 pictures would be even better:

There.
Doesn't he
look sweet? Is that a smile he's sporting?
Hard to
believe he'ed sooner eat ya than look at ya. No, I'm kidding...
well, maybe. Actually I'm not sure, but I am sure that I
wouldn't want to be in a UFC match with this guy.
Did you
know that Polar bear babies are smaller than human babies, yet an
adult male bear measures 8 to 10 feet tall? And that the largest
polar bear ever recorded was a male weighing 2,209 pounds. He
had to eat a lot of seals to get that big! Maybe even a human or
two?
Hmm.
So this is a case where looks can be deceiving. Cute, yes,
cuddly, no.
Thursday ~ December 3rd
Seriously, I can barely stand it. Seriously.
Monday ~ December 7th
It snowed this weekend & it was
so pretty! We spent some time in the hot tub while it came down.
When we got too hot, we would run out & jump in the snow & then run
back into the tub. It was a little crazy, but a whole lot of
fun.
The next day, it took Chris & I about 2
hours to shovel our place. What I'm trying to tell you is that
it snowed a lot & I mean a lot! Want to see some pictures?
Yeah, I know my fellow Canadians are groaning, "no", but for
those that live in say
Texas or Fiji, you might find these interesting:
Here's the front of our house on Saturday
morning. Check out the roof on the left. It did this cute
little cowlick thing with a swoop of snow that reminds me of Elvis.
Every time I look at it, I hear a voice saying, "thank you, thank you very much" with a deep southern
drawl.
And here's the back. Chris shoveled
the deck & piled it up by the garage really high, something like 4
feet from the bottom level. That looks good enough to jump in.
Between all that snow & going to see the
Vinyl Cafe Christmas Tour yesterday, I think I'm finally in
the mood for the Holidays. I still have so much to do before I
can relax & enjoy the Fireplace channel on TV, but it's starting
to look a lot like Christmas around here.
And just incase you don't have the
Fireplace channel where you live, here it is on youtube. Turn it
up load so you can hear the crackling!
By the way,
Matt
Andersen was one of the special guest musicians last night at
the Vinyl Cafe & he did a song called "So Gone Now" that was so
astounding that it left me in tears & he received a standing ovation.
He's got a version of it on iTunes that is good but nothing like in
person so if he's in your neck of the woods, I highly recommend going
to see him live.

I like reading blogs where people talk
about the weather in their neck of the woods, especially if it's
extremely different to these parts here. Like Donna over at
Blackberry Beads. She often mentions her excitement when
it rains in hot Austin, Texas. Or
Kate
McKinnon, who is always jazzed about how beautiful the weather
in Tucson, Arizona is.
Well, up here in the great white north,
we had a little weather news of our own. Last weekend, Edmonton
hit a record cold & it was the second chilliest place on the planet at
-46C, just slightly warmer than Dzalinda,
Siberia where it plunged down to -48C.
Gratefully, the cold snap has broken
today because I have to start my Christmas shopping, only 9 days to go
- eek.
P.S. Thank you to everyone that
ventured out in the cold last night to pick up jewelry prezzies for
yours. As always, we appreciate your interest & support!
Hope they make great gifts.
Thursday ~ December 17th
A living wall
I've got to get some of these
Woolly Pockets ~ they are so rad.
Isn't this a beautiful photo? An
igloo all lit up & cozy looking in the stark Canadian artic.
Wishing you all the best these next few
days. I hope the hard work of shopping, wrapping, cleaning,
organizing, cooking, baking, planning & decorating pay off for you.
And I hope you have the chance to relax & enjoy some time with your
loved ones. Merry Christmas.
O.k., I can't leave you with that bad
taste in your mouth, clean your palette with
this.
Saturday ~ December 26th
I do have beads, but I'm not ready for the sale yet. I tried to
set the goal for today as a way to really kick me into gear, but it's
just been too busy here with the holidays. So, I'm really hoping
I'll have the sale within the next 2 or 3 days. I will notify
everyone on the list when I do.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Tuesday ~ December 29th
