May <                                                                                                               > July

June already?  Wow!  I just posted the winner for May's contest - thanks again to all those who participated.  I had a ton of entries, so I guess you all are geography nuts too!  Well that works out, because I'm continuing the "Where in the World is Carrie Hamilton" contest & I've already posted June's riddle & prize so take a look here & good luck!

Princess Sadie

Saturday ~ June 4th

It just started to rain so I'm inside for the moment ~ thought I should update.  Chris & I are working hard getting our yard just the way we want it.  Chris dug a trench & ran speaker wire to our fire pit so we can listen to music while we're sitting by the fire.  Yesterday we covered up the trench & put a brick border all the way down, which turned out very nice; I'll take photos once the rain lets up.  Today I hope to do some more planting & weeding.  And tonight we are going to a wedding, which I'm really looking forward to!

If you read about the recent beads that I listed on eBay, you know that I named them after our friends Mike & Kelly's baby, Sadie because she was born on the same day that I listed them (June 1st).  Well, our other friends Darren & Tanya had a baby girl that same day on the same floor of that particular hospital.  Incredible!  They named her Ella Marie Claire (so perhaps my next auction will have some sort of connection to her?)  Speaking of auctions, before I named my current auction "Princess Sadie", I had in mind a name with watermelon in it.  When I looked up ideas about watermelons on Google I came across this watermelon carving site - click here to see.

The rain has stopped so I best get out there.  Hope you're having a super weekend!

Lookie here!  The real Princess Sadie & her proud parents, Mike & Kelly.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts about the postcards - it really helped.  I've picked the postcard, just need to do a little tweaking.  I'll show you the final result later.

Monday ~ June 13th

See those two deer in the center of this photo?  They were trying to get out of the schoolyard across the street from our place.  We live very close to the river valley & somehow they got up & into this field & then they were really confused on how to get out.  I was watering my front garden when from my peripheral view these large, galloping objects came towards me.   It was quite the sight to behold.  At the same time that I was excited to see these beautiful bounding deer, I was kind of worried.  They kept charging the fence as if they were going to jump right over it.  If they had, they would have jumped onto a fairly busy street.  Luckily, they managed to get out safely & trotted down our back alley - we ran around to the back to see them, but before we could get a good photo, they darted into a neighbor's yard.  A park ranger drove by shortly after & we told him the direction they ran in, so hopefully they made it down into the valley again.  Afterwards, we talked to our old neighbor Tom who told us that he's seen lots of animals in this area, including a brave little skunk that wiggled between his legs once!

The Verdict is in...

Here's the final cut for the postcard.  I've already had them printed up and I'm mailing them out this morning!  It was almost unanimous, everyone liked the flowers so that's what I went with - I really appreciated your opinions!  I changed it up a little though - the font here is the "official" Bead Tree font & I changed the saying, because even though we are having an English Country Garden Party with fresh lemonade & flowers & everything, the saying "How Many Kinds of Sweet Flowers Grow In An English Country Garden?" was confusing for some.  It's actually a line from an old song & I was playing it up with the idea of glass beads being like flowers...but it just didn't come across to everyone so I scrapped it.  I'm pretty happy with the end result & luckily I found a super Printing Outfit that printed them up beautifully for a ridiculously low price!  Oh happy days.

I'm pretty busy, working away for hours on end, trying to get ready for our big show this Saturday.  I hope to have a photo or two of some of our jewelry, a sort of sneak preview, but it most likely won't be until Friday.  Please come back to visit - and for all you homeys out there, hope to see you on Saturday!  Peace Out.

Oh, by the way - check out this groovy art here (compliments of Andrea).

Monday ~ June 27th

Thanks to everyone that came out to our Garden Party on Saturday.  We had such a fun time & hope you all had a great time too!

This is a picture of mom & I right before the show (we have the same smile).

And here is a picture of one of our displays.

I've got a lot of sorting to do & then I'll be working on custom orders from the show for a bit.  Afterwards, I will be taking a small break to work on another project which I will tell you about soon enough.

Thanks again for everyone's enthusiasm & support.  We appreciate all our customers and hope that your purchases bring you as much happiness as we had making them.

Thursday ~ June 30th

Chris & I are going on a canoeing trip in the morning.  Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canucks!  And Happy Independence Day to my American friends.  Enjoy your weekend wherever you are.
