It came in like a Lamb...

A beautiful morning here ~ sunny, mild, calm...what a great way to kick off March!

I drew the lucky name for February's contest this morning.  Congratulations to Cheryl Sue!  She wins 2 hours of torch time.  Thanks to everyone who participated.  Was that one a little harder than you like?  I only received about half the normal amount of entries.  Well this month you get a little break ~ the March contest is slightly different (& easier) ~ take a peek in the Riddle Archives to get your clue.

The Long Road Ahead...

I'm having a hard time finding my "groove" right now.  After taking more than a week off, I feel at a loss to where to begin again.  Should I just throw myself back into making beads or should I get some other things done that I've been neglecting for far too long?  Should I take on custom orders or work on our own stock for an upcoming show?  Should I take this time to catch up on errands & chores or maybe I just need another day or two to gather my thoughts & devise a plan?  What about all those undertakings on the horizon, just around the corner there are deadlines & new things waiting to get started.  My "to do" list is so gigantic right now that I'm daunted by the very thought of it & with several projects half finished I'm overwhelmed with the amount of work I need to commit to.

I guess I just need to plow ahead with energy & purpose & try to remember to enjoy the process.  Besides, it's all about the journey anyway & all the beauty that unfolds along the way.

Wednesday ~ March 16th

Thanks to all my "cyber-friends" out that took the time to email me with some thoughtful words about relaxing & enjoying the ride & to think about the happiness I'm bringing to others.  I appreciate all the words of wisdom!  I'm feeling very grateful for everything in my life & I'm also feeling more focused after a full day at the torch yesterday.

I should have an auction up soon ~ a version of a set  in the bead trunk that is one of the most requested ~ can you guess which one?  The first person to guess correctly will win a little treat from me. Email me your guess at carrie@beadtree.net.

Sunday ~ March 20th

Hot diggity dog!  We have a winner for the "one of the most requested bead set" guess.  Actually, we had a winner about 20 minutes after I posted the "contest", but I didn't get a chance to update until now.  And the winner is...  Randi Spiegal!  Randi guessed "Space Garden" & this is what she won ~ clickity-click.  That was sure a lot of fun!  Thanks to everyone who played.

As for not updating sooner, well we were very busy the last few days.  I woke up Thursday morning & it was freezing in the house.  The furnace died in the middle of the night & it was snowing out - burrrr.  I called the gas company to come by to try to fix the problem.  Talk about bad timing, Chris & I were planning on leaving for Calgary (about 3 hour drive south) that day right after he finished work because our friend there celebrates her birthday on St. Patty's day & we wanted to be with her for it.  I had a gazillion errands to run before we left, mainly because we orchestrated an elaborate treasure hunt & surprise birthday party at our house the coming Saturday for a friend of ours, Darren, who was turning 30.  With the furnace not working I only got about half the things done that I needed to, mostly because I spent a great deal of time wondering whether we should cancel our trip to Calgary or not.  At the last moment, a man from the gas company arrived & got the furnace going, but wasn't sure why it had died & said to "keep an eye on it".  I decided that we should head off to Calgary regardless & I'm glad we did because we had such a fun time!  Thanks Flanders!

Yesterday morning we woke up just after 6 a.m. to race back to Edmonton to finish all the errands necessary for the Treasure Hunt/Surprise Party.  When we actually arrived at our house at around 11 a.m. the furnace was off again & it was plus 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees F.)  It was so cold that our Beta fish that we have in the bathroom died :(.  With less than 3 hours before the treasure hunt was to begin & about a dozen people to call, several clues still needing to be printed out, a house to clean, a shower to have, walks to shovel, furnace to fix & several other little odds & ends to complete ~ we were cutting it tight!  So we called the emergency number on the furnace & they figured they could get over & have it fixed within 2 hours but at quite a cost - over $400, ouch!  We really didn't have a choice so we went ahead with it.

The treasure hunt commenced at 2 p.m. when Darren (the birthday boy) was at home relaxing when his dog, Jack, walked over to him & Darren noticed something strange tied to his collar.  It was the first clue - which led him to the the 30th page of the first Harry Potter book which had a treasure hunt introduction.  From there he had to go to a friend's house & knock on the door 30 times & guess a line from a song (that he wrote) to get his next clue.  This clue led him to a bar that he & my boyfriend's band played at just recently.  There, Chris (my boyfriend) & the band were sitting waiting & he had to have a shot of brandy before getting his next clue...this clue retrieving carried on to a couple of stores he's frequented, 2 other bars, his favorite restaurant, the University, the Legislative Building, a theatre downtown he sings at, a bus stop where a "crazy man" (one of our friend's acting crazy) gave him a clue, a friend's house, a park where he had to actually light a fire before a forest ranger (our friend Mikey works in Forestry & played the part in his uniform) came out of the bush to give him his next clue & eventually to our house (about 8:30 at night) where after knocking 30 times & entering we jumped out & yelled surprise!  It was quite the adventure, but I have to say it went off with out a hitch & everything worked out perfectly!  So we partied at our place but as the night wore on Chris & I became very tired from such a long day & we did the unthinkable, we passed out before our friends left...

Just a little advice here, IF YOU ARE THROWING A PARTY, DON'T BE THE FIRST TO PASS OUT!  Why?  Here's why:

Take a look at our living room ~

Now take a look at our living room this morning when we woke up ~

Is something wrong here?  Yes, those little tricksters changed our living room into our dining room & our dining room into our living room.  If you want to see more of the details click here.
