It came in like a lion.  Click on photo to see what I mean.

I haven't finished setting up the ceiling news, but since yet another month has flown by, I figured I should do the draw for the 2 heart pendants.  And the winner for the "Great Ceiling News" contest is Christina Vandervlist ~ congrats Christina!

I've just started a new "Where in the World is Carrie Hamilton" contest - check it out here.

Happy Birthday To You Mom!

Friday ~ March 3rd

Iiiiiiiiit's Friday!

Look at this photo!  It's so beautiful & there's more here!

If that doesn't keep you distracted from your real work long enough, then try something that will make you laugh

OR something that will inspire you,

OR impress your work buddies with some silly facts

Happy Friday!

Saturday ~ March 4th

Look what I've been up to.  Lots & lots of Aegean Artifact beads!

Monday ~ March 6th

Above, a close-up picture of a pineapple we enjoyed eating on the weekend.

Did any of you watch the Oscars last night?  You know, it's sad, but I haven't seen any of the 5 movies nominated for Best Picture.   Any recommendations?

I think this nasty cold is making a comeback.  Just when I thought I was in the clear.  Don't fear, it's not going to stop me from working on those orders & projects & I'm hoping to have a new auction listed tomorrow night so make sure to come back.

                               Panama Bracelet

My friend Tamye works as a Stamping Up! Instructor.  Each year, she commissions The Bead Tree to make a special bracelet line for all of her team members that reach their sales goals.  Not only that, they also win a cruise!   This year we made a bracelet called "Panama" because it refers to the cruise location for next year.  Everyone on her team that succeeds in winning the cruise will also be presented with one of these bracelets above.  What a cool idea & a very thoughtful way to reward the work that her team does!

Friday Funnies or should I say Friday Felines...

Another fabulous photo by Mark Tucker titled "Evil Stephen".

I love this picture of a bookish cat taking a nap.

Just makes me smile!  See more stuff on my cat.

And why can't all commercials be this entertaining?

Monday ~ March 13th

Chris & I bought a new computer over the weekend because our other one was on its last legs.  That being said, we're working out all the kinks.  I can't access my old email at the moment nor my addresses, however, I am able to view new emails & respond to them as of Saturday so if you wrote me prior to Saturday & are waiting for a response, I'm sorry, but until I get this sorted you'll have to wait a little longer or you can email me again at carrie@beadtree.net.  I also haven't figured out how to load photos again so the auction that I'm working won't be posted tomorrow, but instead will have to wait.

Tomorrow I'm going to my niece's school to do some bead demonstrations in the morning.  Actually, I have quite a busy week ahead, I should get cracking!  Hope you're enjoying your day & thanks for stopping by.

St. Patrick's Grave ~ Down Patrick, Ireland

I have spent less time at the torch this week then I can remember & yet, I have more things on my plate then ever before. Here's the problem with owning your own business ~

Even if you think you can, the fact of the matter is you can't do EVERYTHING, because when you try to do EVERYTHING life becomes a jumbled mass of half finished projects, forgotten phone calls, uncompleted bank deposits, mail waiting to go out, mail waiting to come in, emails not responded too, photos needing to be snapped, jewelry to drop off, beads to make, orders to place, paperwork to sort through, more projects in the queue & at the back of this overwhelmingly "to do" list is a pulsing desire to have the freedom & time to create something new...

Luckily, it was yesterday, I heard someone say to another, "you've got to quit taking yourself so seriously."  And that resonated deep within me.  I've got to take things in stride, because I really have been taking myself too seriously & this is supposed to be fun too, right?

On a lighter note - tomorrow is St. Patty's Day - a very cool day indeed because it is also my friend Tricia's birthday.  We're going down to Calgary to celebrate with her.  I will be back working on Sunday & I hope to have something fun to show you next week so hang in there.  Oh & by the way, thanks to everyone that offered help with our computer problems.  We're still working out the kinks but I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I added a new clue to this month's riddle so if you haven't entered yet, you might want to try your "luck" here.

A BIG HAPPY GREEN BEER-INDUCED WEEKEND TO YA!

Monday ~  March 20th

Now, I could show you a photo of our yard after all the snow that fell this weekend, but I'm sure you're as sick of seeing snow on my website as I am of seeing it outside.  So, instead I'll show you one of my favorite photos, taken from the National Geographic's Photo of the Day page, as it is far more inspiring.

Phew, what a weekend!  As usual, Calgary was fun & it was great to visit with our friends down there & to celebrate Tricia's birthday.  But driving back up to Edmonton, we found ourselves in the middle of a major snowstorm.  It was kind of eerie.  We were about an hour & a half away from home, when we started to drive into the last of a blizzard.  We kept driving past cars that were in the ditch, a graveyard of abandon vehicles.  What is normally a 2 1/2 hour drive, took 6 hours & my car also ended up in the ditch just outside of Edmonton, but luckily a really nice man driving a semi, stopped & pulled us out.  We offered him money & he refused.  It was a wonderful reminder of the kindness of others.  When we got back, there was so much snow on our street by our house that my car got stuck again & again.  We ended up having to park my car at the little supermarket parking lot about a block away from our house ~ crazy!

Yesterday we spent hours digging out our driveway & sidewalks.  Up in a spruce tree sat a lone robin watching us.  The first sighting of a robin this year!  It was a little strange to be shoveling 12 inches of snow, and to look up and see a robin, but at least there's hope that spring is on it's way.

And tomorrow, I hope to have a new auction up.  We've almost got all the kinks worked out with the new computer so I should be able to run one.  I'm crossing my fingers.

Chris in  1977 (?) ~ ice cream everywhere

As you might know, Chris' parents gave us a gift certificate for country dance lessons for Christmas.  Well, we had our final lesson last night.  I really enjoyed the class, not just because it's fun to learn new things, but because it was so cool to do this with Chris. Sure we've gone out dancing before, but we've never taken a class together & it was really neat to put ourselves in that different environment.  I discovered new things about Chris, like how focused & determined he was to get the footwork down just right.  Or how he became a little nervous when the teachers were watching & when they weren't he sometimes would act silly.  It was just so much fun!  The dance lessons were great, but getting to know Chris better was the best part of this gift.

Friday ~  March 24th

I don't know what's really going on in this picture, but I like to think that the dog is wondering how the hell he ended up with such an oddball owner.  And yet, I don't think you could pick a better match.

*Cool link alert* ~ my friend's Rosanna & Kathy have a website for their fabulous beauty products.  These make great gifts & ya know, Easter & Mother's Day are fast approaching!  Go check out Adamant Eve

This weekend is full of big surprises!  I'll tell you more later.  Perhaps tomorrow I'll have some jewelry to show, if the sun peaks out...  Have an awesome Friday!

Saturday ~  March 25th

Check out some available jewelry, click on the photo to see.

                                      Butterfly wing

Phew, what a busy weekend.  We took Chris' mom out for dinner on Saturday for her birthday & we had a surprise birthday brunch for my mom for her birthday on Sunday.  It was great to spend time with our families & to celebrate our moms.

I'll be making bead today, I've been drawn to blues & greens lately so I'm working on a set with those colors in it.  We'll see what happens.

In the meantime, do you often stop & ponder all the proverbs floating around?  It seems like lately I've been hearing a lot of them.  Last week I heard these 3:

Don't put your horse before the cart.

Don't count your chicks before they're hatched.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I'm fascinated by proverbs & their origins ~ if you are too, check out this cool link & here's a fun link about the humor in proverbs.  Oh, and if you also wonder where we've picked up other phrases like "that's a cock & bull story" or "I'm over the moon...", well wonder no more, here's a great site that gives the origins of such sayings.  Happy Monday to you!
