Thursday ~ March 1st

                 Radiant Judy, September 2006

Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom is such a genuine & generous soul, thanks for being so special.

Did you know that she took flying lessons when she was younger ~

she's got her pilot's license!  You're so cool mom.

I wonder if she flew like this?

Just announced last month's riddle contest winner ~ congratulations to Judy Allen! (Another Judy - cue twilight zone music) & I posted a new contest here.

Friday ~ March 2nd

              Breakfast at Tiffany's ($150) ~ SOLD, thanks S.K.

A set that is uncomplicated in the color tones yet elegant & interesting in so many ways.  It has a feeling of antiquity, but also reminds me of something you might purchase at "Tiffany's" & it would come in one of their turquoise boxes to match.

There's 5 lifesaver rings in this set, also included are lots of little silver beads & some beautiful robin egg blue spacers with silver stars & two slender beads with ivory & silver dots.  The entire set was etched to give it a matte finish & stretches 7 inches.

Have a great weekend, hope it's magical for you!

Saturday ~ March 3rd

So Papa, if you were here today, the whole family would get together for brunch.  It's a nice day too, warm & sunny.  Someone would bring the sticky cinnamon buns with icing on top, there would be a giant tray of fruit & mom would make her "famous" scrambled eggs with cheese.  We would either go cross-country skiing or go for a walk to the point & some of the younger kids (& not so young kids) would go sledding.  You would open all your gifts & cards & you would chuckle & smile & feel grateful for your family & we would be so grateful to be in your presence ~ Happy Birthday Papa.

Monday ~ March 5th

                               Maggie ~ last Tuesday

                                   Maggie ~ last Wednesday

It's foggy, icy & windy here & I have to go out this morning, blah.

Tomorrow I have a photo shoot ~ I'll tell you more about it when I get a chance.

In the meantime, check out Jen Stark's artwork, it's amazing!

Tuesday ~ March 7th

Phew ~ what a day yesterday was!  We had our photo shoot for Avenue Magazine (they already interviewed us for the story a few months ago).  The photo shoot took 3 hours ~ that's a whole lot of smiling! 3 hours & several hundred shots = 4 to 5 good photos for the magazine.

I wanted to get something for the website, so I grabbed my camera & took this "action" shot.  I think Darren is telling my mom to turn a certain way & Randy is laughing because I said, "do you mind if I take photos of you taking photos of us?", which does sound odd.

The publication will be out in May.

Back to the hum-drum, yoga & beads today... actually, that sounds perfect.

New clue for the riddle contest here.

Friday ~ March 9th

                                 Nu & Buddha

Friday already?

Chris has gone to get more karaoke songs ~ we're unstoppable!

We have our friend, Tricia from Calgary coming to town for a visit this weekend.  We'll definitely be singing some songs tonight & Chris put some ribs on to boil before he left ~ looking forward to that, we rarely make ribs so it's a treat!  Life is good.  Enjoy your weekend!

Monday ~ March 12th

Here's Judy Allen's prize for last month's contest.

I'm making beads today, hope the muse is good to me.

Wednesday ~ March 14th

My mom took this photo for a photography course she is currently taking.  I've put it up here to remind me that spring is on it's way, because you wouldn't know it today ~ it's a chilly morning but at least it's sunny & I'm in good spirits because I just finished eating toast with peanut butter & sliced bananas on top, delicious & sticky.

I added a new clue to the contest here, thanks to all that reminded me it was time for a new one.  I'm glad these contests aren't becoming a snooze.  I have some real sleuths out there that still have fun tracking me down ~ you guys rock!

I have a few strands of beads ready for sale, I just have to make a bead here & there to complete the sets, which I hope to do tonight.  If you like the colors of the Marrakech set, please come back tomorrow.

I have a pedicure booked within the hour with my friend Tamye.  We're meeting at the salon a few minutes early so we don't feel rushed, we want to really enjoy the luxury of it all.  That said, I'm late!

Thursday ~ March 15th

All beads now sold ~ thank you so much for your interest!  Click on the photo to see the new beads that were up for grabs earlier.

Friday ~ March 16th

                   Photo compliments of Sensitive Light

Don't you think if you stare long enough, a little leprechaun might just jump out from this forest & do something devilish like flash you or squeeze your cheeks & then *poof* he'd disappear again?

I got my toes painted green so I'm safe this weekend.  We're off to Calgary to celebrate our friend Tricia's big 3-0!  Unfortunately we will be missing our other friend Darren's birthday here in town but we'll be having a green pint in his honor.  Happy Birthday to you both!

As a beer lover, I think this might just be my favorite holiday of the year.

Have a wonderful St. Patty's Day weekend.

Monday ~ March 19th

I took this picture of the sky a couple weekends ago.  It was a warm & beautiful day, but as the afternoon wore on, a cold mass of air came through & the clouds started to ripple right before our eyes ~ it was fantastic.

We had a great weekend down south.  We spotted our first robin of the year while we were there, which is always exciting for me!  I love when the robins return.  They're so sweet & their song just instantly perks me up & I love that in the summer if you look at the spruce trees, you're bound to see a robin perched up top of one.  I'm hoping sometime this week, we'll be seeing them around here.

Tonight I have a class at Bedrock.  It's an electroforming class, which is hard to explain so I'll just show a picture here when I can.  I forgot to make some beads for the class so I have to dig through "the dogs" (old beads hidden away in my bead box).

Wednesday ~ March 21st

                                 New Focal Beads

Well I've been to the gym, unloaded the dishwasher, put a load of laundry on & had a shower.  I have a hot cup of coffee & the day stretched out in front of me & that feels pretty darn good!

Yesterday was so busy & chopped up: first to the gym, then time to make beads, then race across town for a golf lesson & finally back towards home for a bead club meeting.  The whole day was compartmentalized into 2 to 3 hour portions which made it unfold at such a rapid pace - right when I was getting into something, I had to go & do something else.  But today, I've got all day to make beads & I think I'm going to clean off my work table & start fresh with some bright colors in honor of the first day of Spring!

The beads above are the fruits of yesterday's labor.  They are really big & smooth & they feel like skipping stones in the hands.  I think my mom is going to convert them into pendants.

One last clue for this month's contest here.

Friday ~ March 23rd

This is one of my favorite photos that my mom has taken since she started her photography course.  There's lots I can say about it, but I'll let it do whatever it does for you.

More cool things:

Teaposy

Boomshine

Coral Reef Color

Monday ~ March 26th

So what do you think about these beads?  I'm not quite sure about the color combination... maybe because I've been working with purples, grays & ambers for awhile now that anything else just seems, well weird, but I would love to hear your input, just email me & let me know what you think please.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I finally drew up a landscaping plan for our yard.  I spent most of yesterday working on it, now I just have to wait...  We talked to a new company about the cement pad.  If you haven't heard my woes from last year, the company that was going to lay our cement pad down for our new garage disappeared last year after demolishing our old garage so we've had this giant mess in our backyard since August.  Unfortunately we're not booked to get the cement down until July.  If you know anyone that does really good cement work in Edmonton & happens to need a quick job for April or May, please email me, I would love to talk them!

Check out this Panda Sneeze.

Wednesday ~ March 28th

Another fabulous photo courtesy of my mom

A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PAT (Chris' Mom) today!  I'm off shortly to go for lunch with her & a few other family members, but I just wanted to pop in & thank you all for your wonderful comments about the pink & coral beads I was asking about.  I had over 30 emails from people that really liked the colors, so I went ahead & made some more but with some slight color design tweaks.  I made some sets that I really like ~ picture coming soon.  I had two emails from people that didn't care for the colors together & I appreciate their input as well.  Honestly, I wasn't fishing for compliments, I really wanted to get a sense of how you all were reacting to the color combination so thank you to everyone!

Things are really humming around here ~ we've had a landscaper come by who gave us a quote to rip out our old sod, put in garden beds & do some other work & check this out, he gave us a connection to a concrete company that came out yesterday & gave us a good quote on our garage pad & if the weather permits they can get the job done sometime in April!  Isn't that just wonderful!  O.k., you might not be too moved by this news, but if you lived with this yard you would be jumping up & down with excitement - oh happy days!  And a big thank you to Rosanna for connecting us to the landscaper!

They also do the "stamped concrete" thing & we're considering it for our walkways as paving stone isn't the best solution with the frost/thaw cycles we get up here.  Does anyone have an opinion on it as I'm not to familiar with the stamped concrete ~ if so please email me.

And these ~ the dreaded electroformed beads ~ yikes!  I was very tempted not to show you these little disasters, but since I brought it up earlier & promised a picture I thought I better.  Trust me, this was not my intention, these are beginner's electroformed beads, let me give you a link to a woman that knows how to do it right ~ here.  Her beads are way cool, talk about thinking outside the box!

I will do the draw for this month's riddle contest sometime on the weekend so you have a couple more days to get your answer in if you haven't.

Thursday ~ March 29th

Chris & I saw a bunny (hare) in our yard yesterday!  His ears are turning brown but his coat is still as white as the snow that melted last week.  I don't think he realizes that he's no longer camouflaged because he was 5 feet away from us, ducked down in that position for as long as we were out there watching him.  He didn't even flinch when Chris let Maggie, my kitty outside.  Good thing Maggie's not too bright & didn't even notice him.

Friday ~ March 30th

New & improved carousel beads, I think...

Yeah it's Friday!  We have some fun things going on this weekend including some of my favorite activities, going for dim sum & to the horse races!  Hope you're weekend is filled with good times too!

Saturday ~ March 31st

                             Mom's garden last summer

You might be starting to think about your garden (I sure am) or maybe you're lucky enough to be out working in your garden already.  Regardless, the series "How to Be a Gardener" by Alan Titchmarsh is an awesome way to get you in the mood to garden.  There are 8 episodes, each one a 1/2 hour long, totally worth the time ~ enjoy!
