Daffodils for M-E ~ enjoy!

I'm so excited this morning I could just scream!  The cement dudes have arrived ~ I've seen guys walking across the yard & now I hear machines going.  I can't believe it, a year later, we're finally getting our garage pad, which means we'll have a garage in a month or two!  Wow!

I drew a name for last month's contest & the winner is Carol Wheat!  Congratulations Carol!  I'll have a photo of what she won when I make it.  New contest added ~ good luck.

Friday ~ May 4th

Link Friday...

I often like to share links on Friday ~ I think it's because I envision all you people out there in your offices, not wanting to start any serious projects on Friday, just staring down the clock until the weekend...  Of course, I know that's probably not true, just something I used to do so the image sticks in my head.  With that in mind, what better way to kill time than surfing the net?  Here's some cool links:

Some real surfing.

Awesome guitar player ~ Andy Mckee.

Cake Nouveau (a lot of bead ideas here).

Planet Earth (check out the trailer video).

Brutal Soft Toys ~ for the twisted.

Just look at these crystals ~ amazing!

Organic Chocolates.

That should keep you busy ~ have an wonderful weekend!

Monday ~ May 7th

If you're interested, I put up a little page with photos of our garage progress here.  You can see the process from start to... well not quite finished by getting there.

New clue for the contest here.

Tuesday ~ May 8th

Thursday ~ May 10th

Here's a picture of Carol Wheat's prize for last month's riddle contest.  She was interested in similar beads from the Spellbound bracelet in the Jewelry Grove.  I really like the way these turned out with the added glass spacers that look like pewter.  Maggie, the Super Star that she is, jumped up to make sure she got some part of her into the photo ~ here's the rest of her:

By the way, someone was asking about the magazine that we're in.  It's called Avenue & the May/June issue is now out, here's a link to a little excerpt from the magazine about us & if you live in town & are interested, here's where you can find the magazines so you can read the full article.  I tried scanning the article, but it just didn't scan well.  I'm going to try to get a hold of the photographer to see if I can get the pictures to post here.   Anyway, it was a fun experience & I'm glad that we had the opportunity.

Also, I was featured on Kristen Berge's blog, Indie Love ~ check it out, she's got a good thing going!  You'll have to scroll down ~ I'm *yesterday's news*.  Thanks for thinking of me Kristen ~ you rock!

And thanks to everyone that has been sending me emails about the latest auction ~ I've had an unbelievable response to it ~ you guys keep me inspired, thank you!

Friday ~ May 11th

Things are groovin' along.  They poured our cement on Tuesday & Wednesday - it's done!  Now we wait a couple of weeks for it to cure.  We ordered our garage & hired Chris' uncle to put it up some time in June.  I will definitely have more photos to show as the progress continues.

If you haven't done anything awesome this week, why don't you send Shane Bernier a birthday card ~ it would mean a lot to him.  I sent him a postcard of some zebras.  I guess all the cards he's been receiving are actually boosting his immune system!  That's darn amazing ~ thanks for the link Barbi.

I'm off to go golfing ~ the weather is spectacular this morning!

Saturday ~ May 12th

Mom photographing Mallards in Victoria ~ Feb/07

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND!

Tomorrow morning, Chris & I are driving out to his parent's place in the country for breakfast ~ I just love early morning country drives!  The blue birds are back so I'm sure we'll be spotting a few on the way out there.  Then we drive back to my mom's for a lobster lunch ~ oh yeah!

Something entertaining for the mom's out there.

Hi Mom, you're the best.

Sunday ~ May 13th

Carousel auction ended ~ thank you!

Monday ~ May 14th

Ta-dah ~ a garage pad is born!  It's nothing spectacular, but we're on our way.  The garage will be built in June.  You can read the full story here.  *There's that darn Maggie getting in the photo again...*

New clue for this month's riddle contest just added here.

It's supposed to be a warm day on Wednesday (26 C. / 78 F.) so I might take jewelry photos then & post them up here.  That's probably a better idea than heating up the house with my torch.  I also have some bead sets that I'll string soon & post & I'm working on a really cool project right now that, if it turns out, I might offer a limited number of for anyone interested ~ I'll take photos when I'm finished & see what you think.  If you're not on the jewelry or bead email notification list, let me know & I'll put you on.  Hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day!

Wednesday ~ May 16th

My bead cup runneth over.  Just need to string, take photos & put them up for sale here.  I'll be taking photos of jewelry too & hopefully I'll have everything listed tonight or tomorrow morning.

I know I have some email catching up to do too, hopefully today as well, I'm off to the dentist first.  I'm also going to try to tackle cleaning my studio & maybe pull some new colors to play with ~ boy, an ambitious day indeed!

Thursday ~ May 17th

O.k. I think I've emailed everyone that's asked for goodies at this point - if you see your initials in the sales pages & haven't heard from me, send me an email & I'll get in touch with you.  I could have missed a few people, it was a little confusing going through all the emails, I have to find a better system for myself.

Thanks everybody for your interest, support & enthusiasm!  There's a few more jewelry pieces left if you're interested.

For the Jewelry Lovers:

Breath-taking Bracelets! & More Breath-taking Bracelets!

I've made two trips to the post office today so if you've paid me, your beads &/or jewelry are on their way!

We're off to celebrate our nephew Jeffy & niece Sunshine's birthdays!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Monday ~ May 21st

It's May long weekend here.  Between birthday parties, the lousy weather forecast & a pile of work to do in the yard, we stayed in town.  We've been digging a trench the last two days.  This kind of digging is not my favorite thing to do ~ weird since I'm into archaeology & gardening.  I guess digging for artifacts, or to plant something beautiful is more motivational than digging to bury lines...

There were some perks to it though, like spotting Maggie snoozing in the flowers:

Back to the beads tomorrow.

Last clue for the riddle contest now up here.

Thursday ~ May 24th

Red-winged Blackbird ~ photo courtesy of Judy Hamilton

I love to hear the red-winged blackbird's call

It takes me back to when I was small.

When my mom & I would drive slowly along those country roads

Listening to the songbirds, the crickets, the frogs & the toads.

Now those memories come up like quiet & reflective stirs,

But when I was young, they were jam-packed adventures.

Every found object was a treasure to keep;

A feather on the ground, a milkweed head gone to seed.

Tiny wild flowers like buttercups & forget-me-nots,

A sparkling rose quartz rock.

And every movement we spotted was a magical surprise;

A hawk soaring above like a floating shadow against the blue of the sky,

A flash of orange from the orioles that flitted back & forth in the poplar trees,

Or a red-winged blackbird perched on a cat tail swaying in the breeze.

Friday ~ May 25th

Well I've made a whopping 7 beads this entire week - it's been pretty bad that way, but there's lots going on around here.  Next week has got to be more productive.

My aunts & uncles from South Carolina, Phoenix & Victoria are in town so we have lots of family activities planned this weekend ~ wooh-hooh!

Rock out

Monday ~ May 28th

Amongst other entertaining activities, I tried out my graffiti skills on our house this weekend.  The neighbors thought I was nuts.  They are starting to re-side our house this week so it's not a big deal, just makes for a fun photo.  There's Chris cutting a bigger hole for the new door.  I'll show a picture once the whole area is done.

I'm making beads this week but mostly for projects so nothing for sale for awhile - sorry.

Tuesday ~ May 29th

I will be drawing a name for the riddle contest this Friday ~ if you haven't entered, this is your last week ~ check it out here.

And compliments of Auntie Carolyn ~ a little cyber humor:

A small boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"

The father answers: "Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway!  Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo.  Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe.  We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive.  As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: "You got Male!"

Thursday ~ May 31st

                             Baby Ruby & Baby Bunny

When we were at our nephew Jeffy's & niece Sunshine's birthday party, we got a chance to hold a brand new baby bunny that was so weak that it almost died that night (it made it though).  A cat had brought the bunny in so Pam & Wes & the kids were taking care of it.  I forgot my camera that night, but luckily Leah brought hers & I got a photo of the tiny bunny & Leah's baby Ruby - they're both so sweet!

The contest winner has been announced ~ congratulations to Annette Hartman!  If you want to see the answer go here.  I'm taking a summer break from the contests - things are getting a little crazy around here & I just don't know how much time I'll have for regular updates & torching.  But I'll start them going again in September.
