Monday ~ November 1st
New Month, New Jewelry
We have lots of new jewelry made & I'm
currently photographing them for our portfolio.
This photo is of a bracelet & a pendant called "Silver Threads".
Not only do I love the color combination of black, silver &
ivory, but I also love the feel of these coin shaped beads. |

This bracelet is called
"Mystic". It's my favorite color combination of periwinkle,
amber & ivory and it has our signature "wide-holed" bead near the
clasp, which we are still deciding on a name for...calamari, halos,
lifesavers...any suggestions? |

Wednesday ~ November 3rd

I was flipping through a magazine the other day & noticed that all the
fashion pages were filled with women wearing chunky turquoise beads
with slinky chocolate brown dresses, & blue scarves with taupe
sweaters & I was very, very happy because, if you haven't figured it
out yet, blue & topaz are my FAVORITE colors EVER! So, I've been
busy making beads to match the current fashion & I'm thrilled with the outcome so far.
Here's some beads that came out the kiln the other day.

Thursday ~ November 11th

You know, 110,000 Canadian soldiers have
died in combat. That's a lot of young lives lost, that's a lot
of sorrow. Some people wonder why we remember, they say they
know how awful war is, why should they reflect on it? But today
it's not past wars I choose to remember, and, to be honest, it's not
even the extraordinary liberties granted to us that I focus on
for I feel grateful everyday for my freedom. Today I need to remember that
after all the past disasters & horrors of war, peace followed.
Today I remember the importance of peace ~ because there is nothing
more important. Lest we forget.
And just incase you need a little
help remembering...this old poem does the job:
It is the Veteran, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of
religion.
It is the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the
press.
It is the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Veteran, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom
to assemble.
It is the Veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a
fair trial.
It is the Veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to
vote.
It is the Veteran that salutes the flag.
It is the Veteran that serves under the flag.

Right, I know, I know,
another picture of my cat Maggie... You see, I was trying to
take a picture of the flowers, because I wanted to tell you that on
Monday we invited my mom over for dinner (of course she brought all
the food & cooked it) & she brought this gorgeous bouquet of flowers
with a card that read, 'Just because...I love you.' It was such
a wonderful gesture. My mom sure knows how to make her kids feel
very special & I wanted to share that with you, maybe inspire you to
make someone you love feel special? But, then Maggie hopped up
on the table & stuck her cute face in the way & it became a "Maggie
photo shoot" (once again). Click on the picture to get a closer
view.

I've been tweaking the
website, here & there. You might want to snoop around & see
some of the new improvements. I haven't yet updated the jewelry
section as we've been selling our items too fast to keep up at the
moment. When this busy rush ends, I'll put some things up in the
jewelry grove as more of a gallery of our work.

Betty is a
Grandma. She's got curly, white hair & a short stature &
the warmest & most genuine smile around. She was born in Belgium
& at age 17 she was
helping Jewish children escape Germany through underground tunnels.
Now she lives in Edmonton where she spends her time volunteering &
when she's not volunteering she's knitting bright striped dolls,
slippers, hats & mitts & she goes from one craft show to the other
selling these items for almost free. And here's the kicker, she
donates every penny she makes to charity. Betty said to me, if
you can't help people there's just no point in living. |

A little R & R...

We've had one heck of a
busy stretch. I think it's time to take a day off, go see that
new Johnny Depp movie, maybe do a little napping & finish that book
I've been reading for FOREVER. Of course I haven't
forgotten about the contest so I'll work on some beads for that soon &
I'll get cracking on that list of custom orders too, but a little
relaxation is due. Hope you enjoy the week. |
