Wednesday
~ November 1st

If you have some free time this weekend, my friend Tamye is hosting
her annual Stampin' Up! 15 card work shop here in town. If you
want to add that personal touch & make your own cards for Christmas,
this is a great opportunity to do so. It's reasonably priced &
such a fun event! I don't know if she has very many spaces left,
but you can go to her website to see the cards & to contact her
directly. Just clickity-click
here.
This
morning, I start yoga lessons! There's a new place opening up a
block away from my house. A block away - I'm not kidding!
It's a massage therapy & yoga studio - could a girl get any luckier?
The rest of the day, mom & I are pricing & packing up our goodies for
a lunch show we're doing tomorrow. I'll try to get some more
photos of jewelry to show you all. |

Friday ~ November 3rd

Ring Necked Pheasants
I've been holding off showing this picture for about a month
because I was hoping to get another opportunity to find these two &
get a better shot. Unfortunately, we had a our first major
snowfall last weekend & the weather has turned rather nasty so I don't
know when I'll get a chance to go looking for these guys again.
We spotted these pheasants while walking near the ravine back in
September. It was such a beautiful morning ~ a bright, blue sky,
calm winds & the air saturated
with that familiar autumn smell. What a wonderful surprise to
spot these two plump birds on an already perfect walk!
I don't recall ever seeing a Ring Necked
Pheasant before. In fact, I didn't think we had them in
this neck of the woods, but it turns out that they were introduced here from China
at the turn of the 20th century for hunting purposes & they're
somewhat common. Did you know that the male can attract a harem
of up to 10 hens in the spring? Busy, little devil.
Tomorrow I have a cooking
lesson downtown at the
Hotel
McDonald (I'm such a sucker for classes). The Hotel
McDonald is one of my favorite places in Edmonton. I love
this old building & the bar inside is fabulous. If
the sun comes out this weekend, I'll snap some more photos of our
jewelry. Have a great weekend.

Sunday ~ November 5th

Flower Pendants
More
goodies you'll find at our show November 18th & 19th.
Tonight, 5
members of my family are celebrating birthdays so Mom's cooking turkey
for 25 of us. We picked the turkey up yesterday - it was 32
pounds!
On a less
festive note, I have to get a wisdom tooth removed tomorrow & I'm
really scared. I had 3 pulled when I was 12 years old, all at
the same time & it was quite traumatic. The last one wasn't completely
in so they wanted to wait. Well, I've been stalling for years &
years. I even had a filling put on my last wisdom tooth because
I couldn't bare having it removed when a cavity appeared. I
guess they've improved the procedure since.
Chris had
all his removed earlier this year, however, he did end up with a fever
& was very sick for several days, but he promises me it only takes a
few minutes & doesn't hurt. Wish me luck. |

Monday ~ November 6th

So here's 2 pictures of the neckties I've
been mentioning. They're made of hand-dyed silk & on the ends
are some really fun bead dangles including one of my handmade glass
beads. We have an array of colors, but so far we just can't keep
the black, grey & brown ones in stock. I guess those are the
most popular hues for the winter wardrobes. You can wear them
about 20 different ways so they're very versatile. My sweet
nieces, Chels & Alex agreed to model a couple of them if I
promised not to show their faces because they're a wee bit shy.
I wish I had the hindsight to take some photos of models wearing these
outside when the leaves were turning. I really should get some
pictures of our jewelry on people...one of these days.

And here's that 32 pound turkey. He was so heavy that he broke
my mom's oven window when she had him resting on the door. He
was good though.
5 more hours until my dentist appointment... eeeeee |

Tuesday ~
November 7th

From our Moon Rocks Series
I survived!!! Actually, apart from
the body freezing fear & mental frenzy I worked myself into prior to
the extraction, it wasn't that bad. Don't get me wrong, it
wasn't a walk in the park either. I mean, it feels awfully wrong
to have a tooth "rocked" out of your skull, but within minutes it was
done. And today, sure I feel like someone punched me in the jaw,
but really, it's nothing an Advil or 2 can't ease & it got me out of
going to the gym this morning (bad Carrie).
Well that's enough excitement for this
week. I'll be torchside, making as many goodies as I can for the
show. After yoga tomorrow, mom & I will try to finish writing
out addresses from our mailing list & we'll send off the postcards.
I'll probably send an email postcard by Thursday or Friday of this
week & perhaps another little reminder a couple days before the event.
And in the meantime, I'll be throwing a few more sneak peak photos up
- like the one above. Moon Rocks - these guys are so sparkly, so
charming, so...don't
say it Carrie... so OUT OF THIS WORLD! |

Wednesday ~ November 8th

From our Cupcake Series?
I don't really have a good name for this bracelet, but the glass beads
kind of remind me of those detailed East Indian
pillows &
cushions (not quite, but I can see myself heading in that
direction). The colors are pink & brown with a pinch of
purple so I could get away with calling it a "cupcake" bracelet, but
that name doesn't quite suit it ~ not to mention the beautiful match
with the porcupine silver beads & gorgeous teardrop clasp. The
whole feel of the bracelet is rather exotic...any suggestions?
Do you know that on each face of each of these glass beads are 100
stacked dots, so for each bead there are 200 dots stacked on top of
each other! That's a lot of dots & of course not the quickest
bead to make, but I really like making them & I like their texture &
overall look. I'm going to make a series of these in different
colors I think, so if a name strikes you, please send it on to
me.

Pop Art Bracelets
I know I say this a little too much, but these really are my new favorites.
I love the bright layered pools of juicy goodness, the flat, cool feel
on the wrist & those sweet little dangles.
New riddle clue
here.
"The thing about art that delights and
confounds us is that it never happens again. This delights us if we
have learned how to look because the esthetic experience allows all of
our human faculties to be absorbed in the environment of the present
and for a while to be fully alive without reflecting, without turning
back or looking ahead." ~ Corita Kent (Courtesy of
Ms. Kerry
Smith)

More show...
This week is going to be hectic ~ I'm really looking forward to the
weekend show. This last weekend was rather tame for us. We
did go out Friday night to my brother's as he was throwing a
housewarming party, but other than that we've been at home working or
watching episodes of the 8th season of
The
Simpsons ~ who's your favorite character? It's a
toss up between Homer & Ned Flanders for me, although I do have a soft
spot for Lisa.
Chris'
favorite is Mr. Burns - weird. |

Tuesday ~ November 14th

Classic black & white bracelets with
earrings ~ up for grabs this weekend.
I've had emails from people wondering if
they can come to the show even though they didn't receive an invite.
Just to clarify, this is a public show, so if you live in
or near Edmonton & want to come, please email me at
carrie@beadtree.net & I'll
send you out the information. |

Wednesday ~ November 15th

Wouldn't this just add that special
sparkle to anything you wear this winter? Pure silver mesh
wrapped around a core of jet black glass & encased in crystal clear.
Heated & reshaped to form free-style nuggets & paired perfectly with
sterling silver crinkle beads & black & iridescent swarovski crystals.
I cleaned up the page a little so it
doesn't take you forever to upload if you're on dial up.
However, if you've just come here, feel free to peruse the
November
& October
archives to see some of the jewelry pieces that will be available this
weekend for one-of-a-kind gifts, for stocking stuffers, for spoiling &
for feeling special. |

A whole batch of cute...

Sadie ~ Halloween 2006

Ella & Ruby ~ Halloween 2006
Above, 2 adorable pictures of our
friends' girls.
Below, an email sent to me with the
subject heading: "Cat For Sale" ~

And check out these links:
These are cute & cool ~ found electronic components
recycled into
robots!
Cute
games
to play, just the graphics alone are so adorable.
And
these are pretty cute too. I used to have a slipper
collection when I was a kid so I'm a little slipper crazy. Right
now I'm wearing my favorite pair of fuzzy chartreuse colored slippers
that I truly believe I can't live without. |

Friday ~ November 17th

O.k., I don't think I'll be back to
update until Monday or Tuesday so have a fabulous weekend! I
will be checking emails & our business line for those last minute
inquiries regarding our show this weekend ~ toodles. |

Wednesday ~ November 22nd

A table full of jewelry at our Open House
I'm back! What a show! Thanks
again to everyone that came out to support us! You are amazing.
We had more people in than ever before & sold about 80% of our goodies
so that's fantastic! We are completely sold out of our silk
neckties, but will have some more up for grabs before Christmas so if
you're interested in knowing about them, email me at
carrie@beadtree.net.
For all of you that couldn't make it, I made up 3 galleries of goodies
still available so you can check them out if you're looking for some
great gifts for Christmas (for yourself too). Here they are:

Thursday ~ November 23rd

I saw this box for chocolates in a
magazine & immediately thought that this design & these colors would
make fabulous beads. Once I get a chance, I'll try it out.
Right now I'm working on a secret project. I'll tell more later,
perhaps much later...
Last clue for the riddle contest, now up
here.
I still haven't made the beads from the last contest, but I will get
that done this week too if all goes well.
Happy Thanksgiving down south! |

Thursday ~ November 30th
Wooh-hooh, I'm back! Did you miss
me? Did you miss me? Come on, you can admit it. I sure missed you! My computer crashed last weekend
or so I thought.
On Sunday morning when I turned it on, nothing happened, so
I took it in to get fixed first thing on Monday & apparently it sat there for 2 days
before they decided to look at it & when they did, they discovered
that nothing was wrong with it in
the first place. It booted up on the first try ~ ?
I have since stopped to ponder what the
point of all that was? Maybe my computer just needed a little
vacation? Maybe... but what I did realize is how utterly dependent I am
on this machine. I felt kind of lost the last few days like I
was missing my favorite TV show over & over again or something.
There were moments when I didn't know what to do with myself.
How am I going to eat lunch? Just sit at the table & eat lunch -
that's crazy. I need to write emails & surf the web & look at
photos while I eat... Sad, really.
So what went on this past week that I
would have mentioned here if I could have? Well let's see...

It's been really, really cold. The
last week or so the temperature has been hovering around -25 C (-15 F) with a
wind chill of -35 degrees C (-31 F).
I betcha that doesn't even compute for some of you Southerners - take
my word for it, it's been cold. And because it's been so cold, I have
had
loads of birds to my feeders - lots of sparrows, puffed out like
little brown marshmallows, chickadees flitting around & this very
cute downy woodpecker. Don't you just want to
knit him a wee sweater?!
What else...

Maggie looked cute & matched the
furniture all week long...
Umm...

A load of Bohemian Waxwings visited my
Mountain Ash in the backyard yesterday. They hung around for
hours, but this is the best picture I have. Those tiny blobs are
birds people.
Oh and hmmm..... what else, what
else...think Carrie...

Oh right...WE GOT A HOT TUB!!!! A
precious, beautiful, warm water filled, happy days are here again, Hot
Tub! Here it is - the delivery guy is backing it up into our
yard.
Chris & I
had our first soak Sunday night. The temperature was -25 C (-15
F) & it was snowing out & we sipped champagne & laughed that we could
actually enjoy a cold night like that. Bliss.
I'm off ~ I've got to
catch up on emails.
