Thursday ~ November 1st

A bracelet up for grabs at our sale ~ autumn colored glass beads, swarovski crystals & a beautiful swarovski crystal heart.

My niece's surgery was a success & she is doing well, what a relief!  Thanks for the good vibes, I know they helped.

Happy November (ack, it's November!).  For some winter entertainment, I'm tempted to buy these shoes, but I'm not sure if they're joking or not?

Friday ~ November 2nd

Some cell phone charms for the girls out there into serious fun.

It feels more like Monday morning than Friday today.  I suppose it's because I'm working all weekend & lately I've been doing a lot of that.  I don't have it as bad as Chris though.  He goes to work at 5 in the morning, comes home at 5 at night & goes out into the yard to work for another couple of hours.  Then he comes in, eats dinner & it's time for bed.  On the weekends, he's out working in the yard for the entire time.  When will it end?  I don't expect soon, they just delivered another yard of sand & road crush to us this morning.  We are definitely gambling with the Snow Gods.  Usually Halloween is the start of our snow season, which by the way, lasts quite often into April, but so far, it's been a warm autumn...  Now, it's really hard to complain about a warm autumn & I can't believe I'm typing this but I'm starting to wish that we could pack up the tools, clear out the garage, scoop all the stuff off the driveway & let winter do its thing.

Sunday ~ November 4th

More goodies...

I'm so tuckered, even with the extra hour.  We had two preview shows this weekend ~ lots of fun, but tiring too.  And late last night the snow started to come down so Chris & I had to spend a couple of hours in the hot tub (those snow monkeys in Japan have a good thing going you know) enjoying the contrast between the cold snowflakes & warm water.

Today, we visited my niece in the hospital again & she's still in a lot of pain, which is really hard to watch.  But she's healing so that's good.  We came home to do all our Sunday chores & I managed to squeeze a couple of hours of torch time in & now I can barely keep my eyes open so I best head off to bed.

It's going to be a busy week, I don't know if I'll be updating much, but I will send out another email reminder about the show to all the people on the list.  Have a great week!

Tuesday ~ November 6th

And more goodies...

Question (said in a Dwight Schrute accent), can you beat this for cutest?  And I already know about this, so it doesn't count.

Nothing else to report, just working for the weekend (hehe).

Thursday ~ November 8th

Oh la la, silk neckties!

This is probably my last update until after our jewelry show.  I will be checking emails though, so if you need an invite or need directions, just email me.

Today is going to be one of those crazy days.  We have some last minute things to get sorted & errands to run & more pricing to do & I still want to squeeze a bit of torch time in this afternoon if I can.  But there is a major reward at the end of today that makes all this busyness worth it.  Survivorman (the show) will be featured on The Office tonight as Michael tries to learn tips on how to survive from Les Stroud (Survivorman).  This is like our two favorite t.v. shows EVER colliding together for a half hour of totally awesome entertainment ~ it's insane how cool this is.  I'm even more excited about this then when The Trailer Park Boys Movie came out, seriously!

P.S.  Thanks for the wonderful emails wishing us success at our show, I really appreciate all the good energy, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Tuesday ~ November 13th

Here's a shot of one side of the table from our show.  In the corner was an array of beautiful hand dyed silk neckties.  On the table against the wall were earrings & of course the table in the center had dishes filled with bracelets & stands with pendant necklaces on them.  The giraffe in the center of the table was looking stylish in a couple of silk neckties too.

We are done ~ the house has been put back together, the storage closet restocked with all our show props, I've returned my torch to my studio & cleaned it, mom & I have gone out for a celebratory lunch... phew!

Today, I'm tired, but elated & I really want to thank a lot of people.  First & foremost, my mom, who is the rock of this little business of ours.  She's an exceptional jewelry designer & she sure knows how to put on a show, champagne and all!  Tamye, Louise & Aunt Linda ~ thank you for all your hard work, we so appreciate your calm & cool smarts while checking shoppers out.  Thanks Tam too, for all your help with the fortune door prize pouches.  Thanks so much Chris for helping me tote all my supplies around & for making my studio a safe environment to work in.  And a special thanks to all that came & bought & beamed with enthusiasm.  I can't believe how much joy this business has brought me & I just couldn't keep doing it without your appreciation.  Thank you for supporting our art, you make this world a better place to live in because you promote creativity.  Enjoy all your gifts, they are made with love & I hope they keep you happy for a long time to come.

As for all of you out there that couldn't make it but are interested in some Christmas treats, I have some nice pieces left & my mom is going to make a few extra goodies too.  I will be photographing them (probably tomorrow) & within a couple of days, I will be able to have them up here for sale, so please stay tuned.

Wednesday ~ November 14th

Mom & Me before our show last Friday

O.k., I think I will be able to get the website jewelry sale up & running tomorrow morning.  I'm working away at it & things are coming along.  I'll be posting earrings, bracelets, pendants & silk neckties (mom is wearing two of them in the picture above).  I'll be notifying everyone on the jewelry list & the people that have emailed me the last few days inquiring about it.  If you would like a notification too, just email me at carrie@beadtree.net

Just to get you all warmed up for the click & shop tomorrow, here's a fun game to try ~

Press the Spacebar.  This is actually quite addicting, my best score in 10 seconds is only 69.

Thursday ~ November 15th

The Web Shop is now open!

Click the links below, if you find something you like, click on the title of that piece which will allow you to email me with your interest.  I will contact you to let you know if that piece is available & I will give you a total including shipping (& G.S.T. for Canadian residents).

Happy shopping & please refresh your screens frequently to make sure an item isn't marked sold.  I will assume, unless otherwise stated that you are paying through paypal & that you want to go with regular air mail ($5).  If you would prefer to pay by a different method (credit card or, if you live in town, coming by with cash or check) please let me know.  Also, if you would prefer Xpress air mail (which is traceable & faster but costs $12) let me know too.  If you have any questions in the process, feel free to email me, I'll be checking back frequently today & updating as I go.

Saturday ~ November 17th

Hope you're having a relaxing weekend...

Not much to report.  I'm going to make beads all day today, which I'm looking forward too.  I hope to get a chance to visit with my niece tonight ~ she's doing a lot better since her surgery & I haven't had a chance to see the progress since she got out of the hospital.  Chris & I are debating on having ribs or steak for dinner, we just can't decide.

That's really about it.  Not too eventful, but after the last little while, I'm kind of liking the quiet.

Monday ~ November 19th

One question I get asked from time to time is, "do you ever have a hard time selling your beads, don't you just want to keep them for yourself?"  To be honest, that's never been an issue for me. I think it's because I know that they're going out into the world to bring a little happiness to someone else, & that makes me happy.  But, every time we have a jewelry sale, mom makes a few pieces that I secretly hope don't sell so that I can keep them for myself & sure enough, those are usually the first pieces out the door (it's like a jinx or something). So, after this last show, I was ecstatic to see this pendant (above) still hanging on the stand ~ it was one of the pieces I wanted to keep, sweet.

Wednesday ~ November 21st

This is the squirrel that used to snack at one of our feeders about 2 years ago.  I loved this squirrel, he was sweet & captivating & sort of relaxed for a squirrel, but for whatever reason, one day he disappeared & never came back again.  I have a hunch that someone in our neighborhood doesn't like squirrels hiding in their backyard nooks & crannies so as soon as one moves into the area, shortly after it moves out, if you catch my drift.

But this year, with all our yard renovations, Chris & I have built up a few piles of wood & sod & debris at the back of the garage & now there is a new squirrel stashing nuts in one of those piles & probably sleeping in another.  I consider this to be a bit of a good thing because I'm not one for having junk around, it actually drives me kooky but, to know that a squirrel has made good use of some old wood pile that is destined for the dump, well that makes me think I can bare living with it until the Spring.

I have to say that this new squirrel, is nothing like the old one though.  He is a total frenzied maniac.  In fact, he doesn't sit still long enough to take a good photo of him.  It's as if some sly rabbit or devious porcupine lured him into a dark alleyway & sold him a lifetime supply of speed & he decided to take it all in one pop.  Yesterday, we had a dusting of snow in the morning & I watched that squirrel tear up & down the fence knocking every last snowflake off at the speed of light & when he was done with that he headed for the big Manitoba Maple, twirling & whirling up & down knocking snow in every direction.  The ol' saying, "you are what you eat" must be true because this squirrel is totally nuts (groan).

I've been busy making beads ~ this photo is a little hint to what some of them look like.  I hope to have an auction next week if all goes well so stay tuned.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American buddies, hope it's a relaxing & fun weekend for you!

Chris & I have to get the decking done ~ this is our last chance, the snow & cold are coming.  I can't wait until Chris & I can relax (we're long overdue).

A little sneak peak at what's up for grabs ~ I'll be starting two new auctions tomorrow night, please come back to check them out.
