Monday ~ November 2nd

Here's what we did with our pumpkin.  I scooped him out & our friend Tricia carved a sock monkey face into him.

Chris gave me this candle for our annual ugly candle tradition:

It's pretty ugly.  Good job hon.

Hope you had a spooky & fun Halloween.  We had only 2 groups of children to our door before we left for the boat party.  Where are all the kids going to get their treats these days?  I suspect malls & parents' friends houses?  It sure isn't like it used to be when I was a kid.  The streets were packed with kids hauling pillowcases of candy over their shoulders, running from one door to the next.

Tuesday ~ November 3rd

Here's the picture for the front the postcards for our show (November 20th & 21st).  I put on some of the new "gypsy style" bracelets my mom has been making, she grabbed her camera & voila, we had a picture that we think is pretty exciting.  I'll be mailing out some once they're printed & sending email invites very soon.  If you would like an invite, please email me & I'll make it happen.

Wednesday ~ November 4th

More bead porn for you ~ black, white & silver with lots of hand pulled twisties & murrini.  They're off to my mom's to make themselves wearable.

I'm STILL waiting for my postcards at the print shop.  It's tough being patient sometimes.  I would like to get the cards out before the show because there's really no point in them coming after.  Luckily, I can send out the email invites right away so look for them in your inbox today or tomorrow.

On an unrelated note, check out this bill for Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich's night out with 5 friends:

And apparently, he gave the server a $7,000 tip!  Link

Saturday ~ November 7th

Photo courtesy of my mom, Judy

I'm jumping for joy!  The postcards were printed, picked up & sent out yesterday.  I hope you all can make it to our show.  We've got a gypsy theme going on this year & we will have fortunes, prizes, mulled wine & jewelry.  The only thing that could possibly make it better is a petting zoo, but we just don't have the room for that.

I will have some sneak peak photos of jewelry up next week so stay tuned.

Happy Birthday Alexis!

Monday ~ November 9th

500 years of women in portraits in 3 minutes, neat-o!  Thanks for the link mom.

I'm having problems with my web server so at present I am not receiving emails & my website is popping up & then disappearing.  They're trying to fix it on their end, looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.  Hang in there if you've been trying to reach me.

Thursday ~ November 12th

                                     Gypsy Bracelet in the sun

I'm going to my mom's this afternoon to take photos of some of our new jewelry, which I'll be posting on here as the days count down to our show.

My friend, Tamye's 6th annual 15 Christmas Card Workshop is this Saturday.  She's got some beautiful card designs for you to make & I think there's still room in the afternoon class.  Get in while you can!  Click here for more details & to register

Friday ~ November 13th

Here come the Sneak Peeks...

Today, I would like to start off with some new Bread Pudding bracelets.  I've had many requests over the years to make more beads with the color combination of black, taupe & ivory, but I hadn't gone back to it until just recently.  Here are some lovely pieces my mom made with the beads:

Love, love, love the giraffe charm, so sweet.  Did you know that giraffes symbolize intuition, flexibility & farsightedness?  Cool.

These special bracelets, one-of-a-kind & made with only the best ingredients, will be available at our show next weekend.  If you haven't received an invitation & would like to come, email at carrie@beadtree.net & I'll make it happen.

Saturday ~ November 14th

More Sneak Peeks...

We have new styles of necklaces with lots of my glass nugget beads & hand pulled furnace beads ~ wowzers!

And brand spanking new silk neckties with a oodles of pretty baubles dangling from them.

Monday ~ November 16th

More new bracelets & pendants up for sale at our show:

I am so in love with these new bracelets that I ended up making more beads so that Judy (my mom) could make me my very own bracelet.

They have a secret layer of sparkle underneath swirling taupe vines & on top of those are pretty flowers in shades of blue & below, coral.  And mom added wonderful highlights of silver & swarovski crystals.

They also have matching pendants that you can buy with or without a silver chain.

The shape of these beads is so wonderful to wear that you will simply forget that you are wearing a bracelet, only to be reminded frequently by the envious glares of other ladies.

And since I'm showing flowers, I popped over to my mom's this morning to discover this beauty she whipped up yesterday:

Tuesday ~ November 17th

The email invitation to the show contest is now over.  Thank you for all your guesses as to how many beads I'm wearing in this photo.  I have the 4 winners listed below!

Judy, a.k.a. Mom Extraordinaire, painstakingly counted each bead from these 5 bracelets stacked together & the true answer is 476 beads.

There are some super smart guessers out there, 2 of which were only 2 beads away!

Here are the winners:

Joan J. guessed 474 beads ~ so close Joan!

Valerie L. guessed 478 beads ~ so close as well, Val!

Rosanna A. guessed 483 beads ~ not too shabby Rosey!

Dorothy S. guessed 452 beads ~ good guessing Dorothy!

I'll be contacting them by email & they will each receive $25 off their Bead Tree purchase at our sale this weekend.  Congratulations girls!

Thanks to all who participated.  I hope you had fun with the contest, I sure did.  I had some great guesses including several over 1000 beads & one guess of over 2000 beads.  These new Gypsy Bracelets will be available at our sale.

Wednesday ~ November 18th

New Purple Puzzle bracelet for sale at our show.  I just realized that you probably want to know what's in these jewelry pieces I keep previewing & how much do they cost, eh?

Well then: this bracelet has five hand shaped glass nugget beads, made by moi & some beautiful purple striped cane glass (also known as furnace glass) which is also handmade but not by me.  It includes a sterling silver puzzle piece charm & a Bali silver clasp & it will set you back $75 bones for a lifetime of pretty.

There, that's better.

Last night I worked really late, but I'm glad I did because I made some beads that I'm kind of excited about.  I will be passing these off to my mom later today but I wanted to share a picture of them with you first, because, well, because I like them & I hope you like them too...

When Judes & I priced all our jewelry we realized we didn't have a lot of pink, strange for us, but true so last night & today are my last kick at the can for making beads before the show & I thought I better focus on pink.

For these beads, I added some goldstone ribbon, amethyst, lavender, silver sparkle & a few other glass ingredients.  I think I should make more but, like I said, it's the last day for bead making so my mind is a jumble with ideas... *sigh*.  If you like them a lot, come to our show, I'm sure Judes will turn these into beautiful adornments such as pendant charms, wraps, silk necktie dangles & maybe even a pair of earrings or two.  And to my designer ladies, if you like these let me know & I'll make some more after the show.

Here I am at carrie@beadtree.net.  Back to work, ciao.

Thursday ~ November 19th

O.k., here are some more pieces:

Above: whimsical & charming Carnival Bracelets with swarovski crystals, Bali silver & big, bold glass beads ~ each bracelet is $150 & will be available at our sale tomorrow.

Strata Gypsy bracelet with lots of bling (swarovski crystals, silver & 3 handmade glass beads) at $175 & two pendants which are $20 each or $40 with a sterling silver chain.

I was burning the midnight oil yesterday but I've got some good things to show for it.  Take a look at what I pulled out of the kiln this morning:

I heart these new pinky-grey-gold beads & I made some big juicy beads, ripe for the picking.  I hope my mom has enough time to turn these into something you can take home by tomorrow.

Well, that's it for the sneak peeks, although this was really just the tip of the iceberg.  Like, I didn't even show you any of the red pieces, but red doesn't photograph well & I'm out of time so you'll just have to take my word for it that we have lots of red jewelry this year & come see them for yourself.

As for prices, we have a really good range starting at $12 for some earring pairs up to $300 for some extravagantly, beautiful necklaces & lots of stuff in between.

I will be checking emails, so if you have any questions, please send me a message at carrie@beadtree.net.  Otherwise, I'll be back after the weekend to report on things & offer up some jewelry here.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday ~ November 24th

I'm trying to get my schedule back on track.  Since the sale, I've been cleaning, sorting, cooking again, emailing & going out to see the light of the day.  I am also organizing & laying out jewelry to take photos of to share here.

But without further ado, I would like to thank all of you that came out to our show.  We had such a good time this weekend & we hope you found some beautiful gifts that will be perfect for you &/or your loved ones.  And a special thanks to our helpers: Linda, Louise, Chelsey, Margaret, Bonnie & Tricia, who drove up from Calgary to tell fortunes.  Also, a big hug to my mom who did so much work & kept calm despite some family issues that arose during the course of the sale.  You are a rock!

We had freezing rain & snow early Saturday morning making the roads extremely icy, which in turn discouraged some people from coming to our sale that day so we are thinking of opening up the doors one last time before Christmas for those who missed out & also for those last minute shoppers.  I'll have more on that later.

Like I said earlier, I will have jewelry for sale here soon, but in the meantime I would love to get your opinion on something else ~

I took photos of some beads I made earlier this year to blow up into a large picture for our bathroom wall, however, life got in the way & I've put the project off.  Now that the sale is over, I would like to complete it.  Here's where I need your help.  I can't quite decide which photo would work best in the bathroom.  I've narrowed it down to 5 & would love your opinion on which one would be best.  I will include the picture of the bathroom with each photo:

Above ~ Picture A

Above ~ Picture B

Above ~ Picture C

Above ~ Picture D

Above ~ Picture E

If you want to participate, please email me here with the letter that corresponds with your favorite photo for the bathroom.

Thanks so much, now back to the jewelry.

Monday ~ November 30th

I've tallied your votes regarding the pictures below & the most votes went to Picture "D" with Picture "A" being a close second.  I think I will eliminate Pictures C, D, and E all together & try to decide between the remaining two.  So thank you for voting, it really did help me trim down the choices.

I've been working on photographing jewelry & putting it together here & should have the sale up & running tomorrow.  We have some beautiful pieces left over from the show & also some pieces that were made after the show because we just plain ran out of time to get them out so I'm excited to show you a nice range of colors & prices.  Also, once you decide on what you like, I'll make sure they go out to the post a.s.a.p. so that they will arrive to you before Christmas.
