Wednesday, October 5th

The kitchen will be functional as of tonight!  The electrician arrives this afternoon to connect the stove (which is dual fuel ~ gas top, electric oven), the dishwasher, & to finish up a few other electrical issues.  Of course, the paint, trim, & baseboards will still need to be taken care of, but I think Chris & I will just make that a weekend project & finish it up ourselves.  I am also waiting on the microwave/hood fan, 2 bar stools & pendant lights, but by the end of the month, everything should be in place.

By the way, I actually made coffee inside today!  And guess what?  I need a refill & I don't have to put my coat & shoes on to get it (*giggles of excitement*).

PICTURE COMING SOON!

Until then, here's something sweet to see:

I've been making beads.  I'm still stuck on the "Monet" style beads.  With each bead, it feels like I'm painting on layers of glass ~ so much fun, lots of depth & color... I just can't stop myself.  I'm gearing up for a sale with my bead buddies:

As you probably know, Edmonton has a wonderful group of beadmaking gals & each year we put on a show.  This year, the show will be held on October 22nd, here are the deets:

Also, a little heads up ~ The Bead Tree's Annual Christmas Show at my Mom's will be November 18 - 19, so feel free to mark that on your calendar.  I'll have more details regarding that show in the upcoming weeks & some sneak peeks too.

The new kitchen, almost done ~

Well, it's still not complete, but close enough for a sneak peak.  I'll show you a complete "before & after" when the painting, molding, pendant lighting, microwave hood & window covering are added.

But for now, isn't that backsplash to die for?  It's so pretty & I'm loving the butcher block bar.  Oh, & the stove is pretty rad too.  I made pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving & they didn't burn.  This is a new thing for me - wee!

And wouldn't these look so nice in there?

Too bad you can only by them at MoMa in NYC *sigh*.  Maybe a trip is in order?

In even more exciting news, I just found out that as of today, I am a Great Aunt!  My nephew, Scotty & niece, Lindsay just had a beautiful baby boy this morning.  Still waiting on the name, but I'm so excited for them!

My Aunt Diana sent me a couple of videos I wanted to share with you:

The life of flowers ~ fascinating & beautiful.

And the best way to shuck corn ~ how clever.

Monday, October 31st

Are you ready for the Trick Or Treaters tonight?  Chris & I don't get a ton of kids knocking at our door on Halloween so this year, we decided to splurge & buy the "BIG" chocolate bars.  I'm interested to see if it stirs up some extra excitement?  Will the kids be surprised or are big chocolate bars kind of the standard these days?  Should be fun.

8 ways to toast your pumpkin seeds!  (I'm leaning towards the Jamaican Jerk recipe).

Did you check out Google today?

Best Halloween Pet Costume.

Ghost Pancakes ~ how adorab... err... spooky.

And here's a real thrill:
