Thursday ~ September 8th

Howdy!  I was getting tired of looking at that ol' porcupine picture - you too?  Thought I would show you some beads I made last week.  These were for some orders I started on, but this week I've been at the Devonian Botanic Gardens "doing time" towards my Master Gardening certificate.  I have about 15 hours left and then I'm finished!  Next week I go back to glass beading fulltime so I should be posting here more often.  I will be continuing on custom orders for the rest of the month.  If you've asked for beads and you haven't heard from me yet, I'll be in contact with you soon.  If you were interested in beads and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks (or so) for them, email me at carrie@beadtree.net and I'll see what I can do for you.  I think by the end of this month I'll have to stop custom orders and focus on our upcoming show in Tucson (February), but  I will be putting some offerings on ebay so there will be some beads for sale from time to time...

Had a great weekend.  Chris & I went down to Calgary for the Labour Day Classic (football game) with our friends Tricia & Mike who live in Calgary. The Edmonton Eskimos visited the Calgary Stampeders (big time rivals) and the Eskies won!  Yeehaw!  So the Calgary Stampeders are coming up here on Friday for a rematch and Mike & Tricia are coming up to see the game as well.  Gooooo  Eskies!

Wow!  It's good to be back at work.  I made quite a few beads this week.  The picture above shows some of them.  I worked with a emerald and amber color scheme for the entire week.  It was a bit much by Friday, but at least there's lots and lots for my mom.  She's anxiously waiting to turn them into jewelry.

I think Chris and I are going to head off to Elk Island Park today and get in one more day of canoeing (before the snow flies).  It's finally sunny here, a perfect fall day.  Thanks for popping in, hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Thursday ~ September 22nd

Still making lots of beads - it's great getting back into my groove - ideas are flowing and I'm starting to dream of beads again at night - phew...I was worried when I started back.

I'm still working on projects and haven't even started the custom orders - sorry all, I will be working on them next week onwards, I promise!  And, I might even have an ebay auction ready for next week, perhaps by Tuesday so stay tuned for that - it's going to be in the purple, amber and silver colors above - I just love these beads because they're so rich and jewel-like.  Hope you all have a fun, safe weekend!

Saturday ~ September 24th

I'm taking the weekend off to enjoy those last sunny, warm days of autumn.  I think Chris and I are going to head to the horse races.   Wish me luck.

I didn't win at the ponies, which is surprising because I have this beginner's luck thing.  What I do every time we go (maybe 4 times a year) is I open up the program to the race that is just about to start and I "feel" for the horse that is going to win...it's just a gut thing (or maybe a name thing), but I don't look at the statistics, I just say "$2 on _______ to win".  Then, like magic, I win that first bet (and usually I don't win again.)  This time, we raced up to the cashier as the 7th race was just about to start and I flipped through the program and read the name "Ding Dong Dandy" - I thought, 'yes, with this name, how could this horse not win?'; "I'll bet $2 on number 5 (Ding Dong Dandy) to win".  Well, number 5 didn't win on that race, not even close, so my beginner's luck was broken, but I had flipped onto the wrong page and Ding Dong Dandy did win...the 8th race.  Even worse, by the 8th race my "feeling" for D.D.D. was gone and I bet on some other horse that tripped up and dumped his jockey off halfway through the race and was disqualified!  I lost about $10 in total, but it doesn't matter because I love going to the races.  The horses are so beautiful and the people are all so interesting and there's just a real buzz in the air.  Definitely worth a few bucks just for the experience.

I went for a walk this morning - it was such a beautiful fall day.  I took my camera and I must have snapped close to 100 photos.  This was one of my favorites.
