Cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles ~ Sept. 2004

View from Bowen Island (near Vancouver).

Our cruise ship ~ The Norwegian Star.  A floating hotel!

Whale watching trip - sporting dry suits, we got one last group shot before our adventure.  Chris & I are in the second row.

This is a Gray whale - you can just see his eye in the middle on the right side and his fin just below.  It was so exciting to see a whale up close like that - he had a ton of barnacles & sea lice on him!  We also got up close to some sea lions (very stinky!) and seals.

Very old lighthouse.  Imagine working there?  What a job that would be!

Mom at Muir Woods just outside of San Francisco.  Behind her is a huge west coast redwood tree.  Not too many of them left, but at Muir woods there's an abundance of these - the tallest type of tree in the world!

Sea lions on Dock K in San Francisco.  I don't care if they stink, look at how sweet they are all cuddled up for the night.

Ahhhhh

Crab statue near Pier 39 (San Francisco).  Looks like something from outer space.  Take cover!  The giant crabs are coming, the giant crabs are coming!!!

Jellyfish at Monterey Bay Aquarium.  I love this aquarium!  Not only do they have a ton of different and fascinating jellies but the aquarium has an awesome layout, educational drive & are strong supporters of environmental awareness.

Peppers coloring up the Pike Place Market in Seattle.

A humming bird actually sitting still.  This was so cool!  Chris and I could here a strange chatter in this tree & studying it more closely we were shocked to see this ruby-throated humming bird perched contently & singing out.  He sat there for a good minute, then flew up & hovered over Chris trying to decide if he was a flower or not.  He then turned around & perched again for another 30 seconds before flying off.  What a treat!
