Michael Barley's Class ~ June 2008

I had a two day class with Michael Barley last week & thought I would share a few photos.  Here's some of the girls in the class swarming around his "for sale" beads.

A closer view of his beads to give you a sense of the size of them.  Much bigger then I make & absolutely gorgeous!

And here's Barley making a stringer for a bead.  I took several pictures of him working but only a couple turned out because I had my camera on "night time" mode - whoops.

Barley is such a super nice man, very easy going & an excellent teacher.  He walked around to check on each & every one of us every time we made a bead.  I've never had an instructor pay so much attention to me while I was working.  I would definitely recommend a class with him.

These bad boys are what I produced from the class, almost all of them are dogs, but there's a lot of information in each one.  Each one shows a different technique, which I hope to be able to incorporate within some of my own beads.  My very favorite technique is making clear windows like the center bead here.  I also posted a "window" bead on the front page that Michael made so you get a better idea about it.  Very cool, now if I can figure out how to make them wee but still keep the depth, these beads are huge!

These are two of Michael's beads.  The one on the left is the one I purchased from his collection that he brought up & the one on the right is a demo bead he made in class.  He raffled off all his demo beads so we would each get one, which is another reason why Michael rocks.

That's all the photos I have to share, it was rather fast paced & though we stayed late each night, there wasn't a lot of time for taking pictures, a sign of a good class indeed.
